
How do I order my glasses with Simplyglasses? Ordering glasses from simplyglasses is simple and safe. All you need is your prescription. Your Optician has to provide you with a copy by law (UK Opticians Act 1989). Please note that just because you had your eyes tested at your regular Opticians it does not mean that you have to buy your glasses from them. Instead, have your eyes tested, let us know your prescription and save money! back to top
How do I fill in my prescription details? After completing your eye examination the optician will enter your prescription details like the examples shown. So that we can make your glasses specifically for your vision make sure that you enter them correctly! Especially where + or – is noted. SPH (Sphere). The correction for long or short sightedness. CYL (Cylindrical). The correction for Astigmatism. AXIS An Axis value will only be given if you have a Cylinder value. If you have no Cylinder value then both the Cyl & Axis boxes will be left blank. The axis is a number from 1 – 180. Opticians all use different forms on which they write the prescription, however, all prescriptions follow a standard format. They will all have fields for Sph, Cyl, axis and Add , you may also see fields for Prism and Base (if you have a prescritpion that has prism values entered, unfortunately we will be unable to manufacture these. All prescriptions are shown for right and left eye separately. If you do not have astigmatism your prescription would look like this below. If you require glasses for both distance and reading, you may find that your prescription is shown like this: You can see that there is an add in the Near part of the prescription form. This shows that you require glasses for reading aswell. If you need bifocals, you will need to enter the add part of the prescription on the prescription page. If you require glasses for reading only, then you prescription may read like this: Here you can see that data has only been entered on the row that is titled "Near". It is important that you enter ALL details written on the prescription. There may also be a value for your "PD" or pupillary distance. Anything written on your prescription, should be typed into our online order form, put on the mailing document, or related to our operators over the telephone. What sorts of frames will best suit me? The shape of your face is the most important factor when choosing any frames. The list below will give you some ideas as to frame designs. Round Faces - Rectangular frames would be most suitable. Oval Faces - Most frames will suit this face shape, size is the most important point when deciding on frames. Triangular Faces - Rectangular frames would be most suitable. Square Faces - Oval Shaped or Round Frames would be most suitable. Rectangular Faces - Oval and Round frames would be most suitable with medium or larger size models. back to top
How can simplyglasses charge such low prices? Simple. We do not have to finance expensive high street properties or pay for the upkeep of numerous expensive eye testing equipment. How long will it take to receive my order? Our terms state that delivery can take up to 28 working days. However, orders are usually turned round in 10 working days, subject to the complexity of the prescription and additional coatings. We use Royal Mail for deliveries and your order will be posted through your letterbox along with your regular post. back to top
What is the quality of the lenses and frames? We use CR-39 lenses that are lightweight and allow for very high quality optics. All our frames and lenses conform to CE standards. This is the standard to produce and manufacture medical equipment. back to top
How many pairs is it advisable to buy? It’s up to you. You can buy a spare pair – you must admit, at our prices you can afford to. We do however recommend that you change your glasses every time your prescription changes. It is important that you have your eyes checked by your Optician at least every 2 years. back to top
Do simplyglasses sell prescription sunglasses and other tinted lenses? Yes. We have numerous colours and tints available. We also offer photosensitive ‘transition’ lenses. These lenses are clear in normal lighting conditions, but acquire a tint under bright light. These options are available in the ordering process. We also offer Anti Reflection (AR) coatings, Scratch Resistant/Hard Coatings, UV Coatings and sunglasses tints. back to top
Do simplyglasses sell bifocal lenses? Yes. Your Optician will let you know if you are suitable for Bifocal Lenses. Simply choose the bifocal option in the lens menu. back to top
What segment shape do simplyglasses use in the bifocal lenses? We use D28 Bifocal lenses as standard. These are 28mm wide ‘D-shaped’ segments that are positioned 13mm from the bottom rim of the frame and horizontally are centred on your PD (Pupillary Distance). If you would like them positioned differently please state this on your order. back to top
Do simplyglasses sell varifocal/progressive powered lenses? No we do not currently sell varifocal lenses in new frames. However please contact us if you require reglazing varifocals into a frame you have used in the past with varifocal lenses. This way we can take the measurments we need from your glasses and make them again exactly the same with your new prescription. back to top
What do I do if my frames need adjusting after I receive them? Most Optical Stores will do this for you for free or for a small fee. back to top
Can I buy the frame only? Yes you can by choosing the 'clear plastic' lens option and then entering 'plano' in the Sphere and leaving 'none' in the rest of the prescription boxes. Please mention again in the special instructions box that you require a frame only. back to top
I can't find an `addition' reading on my prescription? If your glasses are for distance only - the 'addition' is only required if the glasses are going to be used for reading or close work. Sometimes opticians use the word 'Add' or 'Near' instead of 'addition'. Also they may only write it once but it normally applies to both eyes and is almost always the same value for both eyes (e.g. 'Add' +2.50 - should be entered for both eyes). back to top

Can I use my contact lens prescription to order glasses from simplyglasses.com? No. Your contact lens prescription may look the same as your spectacle prescription but they may have small differences. You must have an eye test and a prescription issued for use with glasses, which is less than 2 years old to be able to order from simplyglasses. back to top
What is my PD and how do I measure it? PD is the distance from the centre of one pupil to the centre the other (the pupil is the black spot in the middle of your eye). If this measurement is not on your prescription please call your Opticians and they will give it to you. Most Optical Stores will measure it for you in under a minute at no cost. The standard Distance PD is set to 63mm by our Dispensing Opticians. The standard Near PD is set at 60mm and the standard Intermediate PD is set at 61mm. back to top
What is the simplyglasses guarantee policy? Here at simplyglasses we know that you'll be delighted with your new glasses. If there are any problems at all with your glasses we will sort them out for you. If your next door neighbour Carol has gone for the exact same frames as you, or Oscar at the checkout in your local supermarket says you’d look better in a silver pair simply send them back to us within 14 days and we'll sort it out, no questions asked. If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with your order, we will offer one of the following options:- Exchange your frames for another colour in the same model. Replace the lenses, even if your optician has made a mistake on your prescription! What else do I need to know? When does the 14 day period start? As soon as we put it in the post. The 14 day period will start from this date. What about refunds for postage and packing? We do not offer refunds for postage and packing costs. Can I exchange my glasses for a higher priced pair? Of course. But there will be a charge for the difference in cost. back to top
Can simplyglasses read my prescription off my existing glasses? Yes - providing that your original prescription for those glasses is less than 2 years old. You must send your glasses accompanied with a mail order form to:Simpyglasses, Unit 18, Merryfields, Rochester Kent ME2 3ND . There is a £10 charge for this service. We will return your glasses to you as soon as we have examined your lenses. back to top
Can you reglaze my existing frame? Simple At simplyglasses we have developed an easy to use re-glazing system. Fancy keeping your current frames and want us to update your lenses? Bought some frames elsewhere and want us to glaze them with your prescription for you? NO PROBLEM ! ! ! Simply print off and fill out the reglaze order form - send it to us along with your frames (full rimmed or semi-rimless only). We will then glaze the frames and return the complete order to you using Royal Mail - direct to your home or workplace! back to top
What do the frame measurements mean? The best way to get the right frame size is to look at the dimensions from a pair of glasses you currently own. They do not need to be exact, but the closer they are the more likely your new glasses will be equally comfortable. On the frame itself you will usually find three measurements, the first two are separated by a square or rectangle. back to top
